Vice President of Human Resources & Administration
Noreen Chaboyer, BA (Hons), M.Ed.

Noreen Chaboyer has been with SIIT since August 1999 as Director of Human Resources, Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Human Resources & Administration.
Noreen grew up in a small Northern community of Cumberland House, Saskatchewan, and is a fluent Cree speaker. Noreen received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Sociology in 1996, Bachelor of Arts, Honours Degree, with a major in Native Studies in 2003, and a Masters of Education with a Social & Ecological Justice in Education focus in 2008 from the University of Saskatchewan. Noreen also attended the Native Law Program in 1996 and studied law for two years before deciding to make an educational switch in 1999 in order to find the niche in which she best fit. To this day her passion remains in the area of education and human resources. Prior to joining SIIT, Noreen worked within various sectors and organizations such as Areva Mining (once named Amok Cluff Mining), the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) as the Director of Communications & Public Education.
“Human Resources is the business of people, more specifically employees, who I believe are significant contributors to the success of SIIT. The greatest investment we can make as people is to create a product of hope in our homes, families, employment and communities and I believe SIIT plays a large part in building that hope for others. I challenge others daily in my circle not to use their tough life experiences as an excuse to hurt themselves and others but rather to learn lessons from both the bad and good experiences and be better people in spite of it. As the Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, I am reminded every day to not only add to the value of people but to work in building a moral economy where goodness, fairness and justice are the cornerstones of which we build this Institute”
Noreen oversees the Human Resources Department and Facilities at SIIT and reports to the President, working closely with the other members of the Senior Management Team to ensure that the institute has the proper administrative support, operational controls, physical operations, security systems, policies, procedures and personnel in place to effectively serve SIIT and its stakeholders. The task of building processes that are grounded in fair policies has been an ongoing undertaking and as SIIT experiences growth, the Human Resources office has and will continue to move forward with that growth
