Academic Misconduct or Dishonesty
Academic misconduct will not be tolerated and will result in disciplinary action. Discipline for academic dishonesty or misconduct is based upon the severity of the action(s).

Disciplinary Action
Any student found to be engaged in any act of misconduct as specified in this policy may be placed on probation by way of a probationary contract. This contract will specify the terms and conditions of the contract. If the student fails to comply with any of the terms and conditions, he/she will be disciplined.

a. Suspension

Suspension may be applied in cases where a student did not comply with the terms and conditions of a probationary contract or for actions that were deemed to be critical enough to bypass other disciplinary processes. Suspension is enforced by written notice to the student from the Dean of Student Services.

b. Expulsion

Expulsion is the most serious of all disciplinary processes and is applied when all other disciplinary processes have not been adhered to. A student facing expulsion will be given a formal notice which will identify the reasons for expulsion. The student no longer has student status and will not be eligible to apply for re-admission until after one academic year.

Academic/Disciplinary Appeal Process
The following procedures shall govern student appeals:
  1. The student requests and completes an Appeal form within three (3) working/school days of receiving notice of action against him/her.
  2. The student submits the Appeal form along with a letter of intent to the Campus Manager or Site Coordinator, who forwards it along with the documentation to the Dean of Student Services & Enrolment who shall provide the affiliated Program Dean with a copy of the Appeal form.
  3. The student must continue to attend classes until a decision has been made.
  4. Student’s Funding Agency will be notified of the Appeal Process by the Campus Manager.
  5. Upon receipt of the written notice of appeal, the Dean of Student Services will proceed with coordinating the Appeal Committee. The Appeal Committee consists of the student’s instructor(s), in communication with the student’s Funding Agency, Campus Director/Site Coordinator, Program Dean, Dean of Student Services, and/or VP of Student Services & Academics.
  6. Within seven (7) days following receipt of the appeal, the Site Appeal Committee shall have met and made a decision regarding the appeal. The Appeal Committee will review the appeal and respond according to the outcome of the review. The Appeal Committee may deny the appeal in which case the appealing student will be notified by letter.
  7. The student may be given an opportunity to present their position. This shall be at the discretion of the Vice-President of Student Services and Academics. The Site Appeal Committee shall be independent and the student may expect to receive notification of the Committee's decision within three (3) days.
  8. The decision of the Site Appeal Committee is final. Once a decision has been made, students are not eligible for another appeal in their program.
